Northern Maine Pictures Canvas Art

Canvas Art Prints have been around for a long time but their popularity is a more recent trend. It probably has a lot to do with the availability of canvas prints thanks to the Internet as well as the substantially lower costs today than even just a few years ago. Canvas Art Prints start out as photos which are first printed on special paper from which they can be removed and transfered to a canvas. The canvas adds another dimension to the photos giving them a textured look that in the past was reserved for paintings.

Winter Grouping Canvas Art

We bought our first canvas prints a couple of years ago when they became available through Art.com, we'd upload one of our photos in JPG format and they'd make a mounted canvas print out of it. They were reasonably priced and the finished product was beautiful. They were so beautiful that we decided to try and sell some of our Northern Maine Pictures as Canvas Art. The problem was that Art.com through which we already sell our photos as posters did not allow us the option to sell canvas art through their website so we could only have them made by them and then we'd have had the option of selling them through our own website or locally increasing the cost substantially. Last year we found a company called Imagekind which would allow us to sell our Canvas Art, as well as our photos through their website, so that you can now go to our Imagekind galleries and order our canvas art and have it directly shipped to your home saving both on shipping time and cost.

Autumn Grouping Canvas Art

All of the groupings you see on this page are canvas art prints we currently have for sale at Imagekind. You have a choice of buying them in two sizes 10 inches by 7.5 inches or 14.7 inches by 11 inches, and the added choice of having them mounted as Museum Wrap, Gallery Wrap, or if you've done your own canvas stretching and mounting you can order the canvas print and mount it yourself. We've ordered the canvas prints and have mounted and framed them ourselves but we've had experience through the years gained from framing our photos and mounting canvas paintings for friends.

Spring Grouping Canvas Art

Gallery Wrap sometimes called, "Standard Wrap" is the normal method for small to mid size prints. The canvas is stretched and secured by staples to the side of the print. Canvas stretches so a slight amount of print "bleed" may wrap over the sides. Museum Wrap canvas is a canvas that doesn't have any visible staples or nails holding the fabric to the wooden stretcher. Part of the image wraps around the sides creating a look that appears “finished” just as it is. So if you plan on framing or having your canvas print framed the staples won't show anyways so Museum Wrap may be the option for you, it is slightly less expensive. On the other hand if you plan on hanging them on the wall "as is" then your better off with the Gallery Wrap since you won't have the staples on the side.
